General Trip Information
Shetland Canoe Club Programme 2011
If you wish to join a trip please ring the number listed on the programme and make sure you request the equipment you will need for the trip that is available in the club equipment store. Always bring a drink and dry clothing.
Remember if you wish to join a trip but do not require equipment please contact the trip organiser as a matter of courtesy as if you are a little late they may leave without you.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
You can only go on club trips if you are a paid up member. Club visitors pay a temporary membership. All paddlers need to contribute to fuel if using club boats on trailer.
Trips
Tuesday night trips marked E will be suitable for this years beginners once you have the go ahead from your coach. Obviously, abilities vary a great deal and some may well be capable of other trips. If in doubt ask a coach or the trip organiser.
Remember to take something to drink and eat – keep your energy levels up. Pack some dry clothing and wind proofs in case you need them. Hard to warm up when you are cold and tired.
Will all trip organisers and/or leaders be mindful of the arrangements for paddling anywhere within the Lerwick harbour area?
NUMBERS ARE LIMITED AS WE ONLY HAVE ONE TRAILER
TuesdaysTuesday evening trips are usually short, 5-6 miles and finish at about 9pm. They are available to Two Star level paddlers. Some trips will be labelled easy and may be available to One Star paddlers. |
If you need a club boat and equipment for any trips make sure you tell the organiser in advance so this can be made available for you. Book early, boats are limited. Only club members can use club equipment. |
Saturday /SundayThese trips tend to be longer, about 10 miles or so and are usually from10am-4pm with a lunch stop. Talk to your coach when you feel ready for your first trip |
