Club kayak trips
Once you have reached the required level of competency you may want to go on sea trips. Tuesday nights are shorter trips and some will be titled E= Easy and will be suitable for beginners. Please check with your coach if you have attained the required level of competency to go on a trip. Sunday Trips are usually full day trips and are suitable for more experienced paddlers. The club will be introducing smaller trips over the week-end which will give new members experience of slightly longer trips than a Tuesday and these may alternate with the longer Sunday trips according to people’s availability and the weather. A programme of trips will be available in due course , once it has been arranged, so please check the web site to see what is on the programme. A small fee of £2.00 or £4.00 will be charged for the use and transportation of boats for the Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday trips. This will be collected by the trip leader on the night of the trip before we are allocated our kayaks.
SHETLAND SEA KAYAK SYMPOSIUM
Last year we had the 2010 Shetland Sea Kayak Symposium held in July This is a perfect opportunity to meet with other paddlers, some of them are very experienced and have paddled in the most amazing places. They will be doing training courses and slide shows etc. The Symposium is a great way to improve your paddling and be taught by coaches who are very highly rated. Apart from the paddling the social aspect of the Symposium is really great. All members are welcome to take part… Don’t think it is just for the experienced paddlers… it’s a great way to become one!!! hopefully there will be another one in 2012 so ask any committee member for more details.
If you are keen to attend one the club in Orkney is holding one. Please go to their link on the links page.
